Info for businesses

We are currently in the process of implementing 2 new programs to help us better serve local businesses.

The first is a new computer based pre-plan system. This system is based on Spark Data Systems pre-plan software.

A representative of the Fire Department will be visiting local businesses and reviewing your location and building layout. We will be looking for any obvious and not so obvious hazards such as gas shutoff locations, alarm panel locations, electrical panel locations, on site chemicals, building construction, and other info that will better prepare us to handle an incident in your building and give us an idea of what to expect if we respond to your building for a problem.
If a department member visits your building, please assist him or her in gathering the info we need to serve you better and to make our job safer.
Once a database has been set up, our first due apparatus will have a laptop mounted in it, this will allow the Officer responding on that engine to look up your location and be informed of anything out of the ordinary that would affect our safety or change how we need to deal with your problem.

The second program is a Knox-Box key control system, a Knox-box is basically a mini safe mounted to the outside of the building, this is how it works;

Each participating business purchases a Knox-Box and has it mounted near the entrance to their business, inside the box is a key to allow us to access your business. A key to this box is kept on our apparatus and is only accessible by the Fire Department. This system allows us to quickly gain access to your business if need be without damaging your door or door frame, thus allowing us to secure the building again when we leave and preventing you from having to make costly repairs. It also prevents us from having to wait while a key holder responds, possibly saving your business.
